Reservoir now on the beat of Brick cops, firefighters

The Brick Reservoir was paid for by Brick residents and now taxpayer money will go to provide emergency services at the entire facility, which is partly located in Wall.

Under an agreement between the Township Council and the Wall Township Committee, Brick police, firefighters and first aid squads will now have sole authority to respond to situations that arise on the 120-acre property that straddles both townships.

Opened to the public in May 2005, the 1 billion-gallon reservoir was built by the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority at a cost of $3.4 million. The facility is open every day, except Mondays, and provides light recreational opportunities, such as walking and jogging on its 1.7-mile path, to the public.
